Karnataka high court’s verdict to result in amendments in MGNREGS - January 20, 2012
The Karnataka govt. is getting ready to amend the Minimum Wages Act to fix a lower figure for payment to those employed under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) as a result of Karnataka high court ordering payment of Rs. 82 a day as the minimum legal wage against the state government’s fixed amount of Rs. 119.42 a day.
